The 6th Annual Sports Meet of MMS was one more step forward towards growth and perfection, one more rung ahead on the ladder of success. 25th August, 2007, was the red letter day. It was filled with activities that ignited the students to exhibit their aptitude for sports.
Marking the 60 glorious years of Independence of our country, there was a special display by the children, honouring the valiant citizens of the past and also the strong and dedicated service personnel of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. Following this the National Flag was hoisted and Col. M. K. Das took the salute of the young athletes who marched in perfect unison. Children took the oath to put up a fair competition and to participate in all the events in the true spirit of sportsmanship. The Olympic torch was lit, the Mascot, the Giant Panda was exhibited, the Chief Guest officially declared the sports meet open and the events began. Following this track event and class events were conducted. Different forms of Martial Arts performed by the children displayed their courage and determination to attain invincibility.
Silambam, Kusthi, Madu, Kalarivandanam, Katari, Sword fight and spear fight were some of the forms displayed by them. Four special events for the special children from MCDS (Montfort Community Development Society) were conducted. An event was conducted for the Past Pupils of the school. Almost all the past pupils participated in the Sports Day. It was a happy reunion.
The Sports Meet ended with the grand finale, a special dance drill in which all the students from Std. I to IX participated. The Finale in all its grandeur was dedicated to the Patron Saint, St. Montfort and to the Alma Mater. The eternal flame of true sportsmanship and invincibility will continue to burn in the hearts of our young athletes. The day has taught them to be disciplined, competitive, honest and fair.
