At the start of the new academic year 2017– 2018, First Friday Holy Mass was conducted for the catholic students. Rev. Fr. Amal Raj, Assistant Parish Priest of St.Patricks Church, St.Thomas Mount served the mass. Every month, Holy Mass is celebrated on the first Friday.
Teacher’s orientation program was organized for the staff of Montfort School and Montfort Technical Institute on 01.06.17 by Mr. Abraham Stephen.
The programme was refreshing, thought provoking and fun filled with many logical thinking activities. The purpose of the orientation was to make teaching interesting and to enable students learn more not only about the subject but anecdotes to be a better person.
He mentioned that values are corroding in the present day society and that it is the moral responsibility of a teacher to see that good values are inculcated in children. Mr. Abraham further said that teachers should focus on smart work and have a positive attitude. They should mould and train young minds.
Short movies were screened for the teachers highlighting the traits of an effective teacher. Several activities were also conducted to enhance the values in a teacher.
Montfort school celebrated teacher’s day with full zeal and enthusiasm. The teachers were invited for a grand programme organized by students of class XI and XII. The event began with the lightning of the lamp followed by a cultural program which consisted of a vibrant array of performances. The programmes included dance, drama, mimicry, song and power point presentation about the teachers. Teachers got very delighted by the programme organized for them. All the staff were presented with a memento as a token of appreciation for their hard work and constructive support.
Students always look forward to Teacher's Day with a lot of anticipation, for the sheer spirit of the occasion. Teachers, on this day, are reminded of their school days and feel nostalgic. All in all, it was celebration mode for everyone!
The meeting began with a quote by “Robert Frost” –Education is everything to listen to almost anything with losing temper and self–confidence. Purpose of the meeting is to interact for the betterment of the child and institution.
The PTA meeting for High school was organized on 8th June 2016.The programme started with the Principal welcoming the parents and conveying to them, the curriculum followed and the teaching methodology. It was followed by open question session were parents expressed their views and concerns. The programme concluded with some important information being given to the parents , who later visited the classrooms with their kids and interacted with the teachers. All the parents were highly appreciative of the well organized PTA meeting programme.

Bro.EvanPasaborne, The Vicar General,Bro.Morris-Co-Provincial of the Province of France,Rev.Bro Thomas-Singapore,Malaysian Province interacted and initiated all the activities of the MGA.
A fun-filled cum educational trip to Ooty was organised for students of std 9 to 12. An one-day trip to VGP snow world was also organised for students of std 5 to 8.

A special Assembly was conducted by the students of Std IX to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Dr.A.P.J .Abdul Kalam. Students and teachers gave speech about Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s achievements in the field of Science and Technology and as a role model to motivate scientific temper. Students of std IX also delivered an oration in English and Tamil about the life , works and values of Dr Kalam. The morning Assembly was fruitful triggering the young minds to follow the footsteps of our great teacher and missile man.
Pongal, widely celebrated in Tamil Nadu state of India at the end of the harvest season, is a thanksgiving festival. It is a way of expressing gratitude to the sun, soil, water and oxen.
Pongal celebrations started with a colourful presentation of cultural programs which were organized by the Tamil Department .It included traditional dance, drama and songs. Principal Rev. Bro.K.K.Thomas spoke about the significance of the Pongal festival
Gaiety and patriotic fervour marked 70th Independence Day celebrations in Montfort school. The Chief Guest of the day was Rev. Bro. Antonyswamy –Former Principal and Correspondent Santhome Higher Sec School, Chennai. Beautiful dance performances, patriotic song and Chief Guest speech were the highlights of the celebrations. Dance performances depicted the unity in diversity of the country. The celebration was organized by students of class VII.
The Chief Guests gave away the medals and trophies for winners of various competitions that were held earlier. At Montfort School it was indeed a day of joy, love and respects for the country and the students urged to make India a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
A special assembly was organized for the visit of Our Assistant General Rev. Bro. K.M. Joseph and Our new Provincial Superior Rev. Bro. George P.J. Students gave an impressive program with their song and dance. Their performance were enhanced by the newly built Auditorium which is a milestone in success of Montfort School. Our Asst General , Our Provincial Superior and Our principal gave away the prizes for Chess and Carrom Competitions held earlier.
Students of Montfort School celebrated Karmaveerar Kamarajar’s Birthday with great pomp and show. Students from class V were on the dais with a wonderful skit and a song. Children showed their creative and confident side while presenting the skit. It was a thought provoking play presented in a humorous way. The audiences were amazed and felt that Kamarajar himself was on the dais.
The Tercentenary Closing Ceremony cum Synergy 2016-2017 celebrations took place on Sat, 26th Nov at Montfort Mat Hr Sec School, St. Thomas Mount Chennai – 16. Most of the insititutions coming under the Province of Yercaud participated in the celebrations. It was a full day programme where the festivity started with a procession from Montfort school to the Parish Church, St.Patrick’ Church where the students and staff recited the Rosary and sang hymns to Mother Mary and St. Montfort, thereafter participated in the Solemn High mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Chennai Mylapore Diocese His Excellency Dr. Antonysamy. The students and staff after the Breakfast were taken for a Pilgrimage to Little Mount, Santhome and Besant Nagar Churches, which are landmark catholic Cathedral & Shrines in Chennai.
In the evening the students of the 17 Institutions presented a Cultural Extravanganza which was presided over by The Bishop of Dharmapuri Dr. Lawrence Pius and our Asst. Gen Rev. Bro. Joseph K M. The programmes highlighted the Montfortian presence in the globe in the last 300 years and also displayed the futuristic challenges and objectives of the Montfortian Mission.
The students and staff were greatly appreciated for their contributions and participation. It was indeed a Red lettered day in the history of the Institutions of the Province of Yercaud.

Children’s Day was celebrated at Montfort School with pomp on 14th November 2016. The children were allowed to come in color dresses and a short programme was organised by teachers which started with lighting of the lamp. The cultural programme included a melodious group song, an interesting and worth mentioning skit and a spectacular group dance. The Vice Principal blessed the children with her encouraging words. Thus the children’s day was celebrated with full enthusiasm making the day memorable for the children.
The 68th Republic day was celebrated at Montfort Mat Hr Sec School St Thomas Mount, with a lot of Patriotism. The celebration started with the Parade lead by the New contingent of the NCC Air Wing. The Principal Bro K K Thomas Hoisted the National Flag. The students saluted the flag and took the National Pledge. The members of the Scouts & Guides and the JRC animated the assembly by Reciting a Patroitic Poem and displayed a Tableau bringing their devotion, loyalty & sense of Nationalism in Republic India. The Principal in his address motivated the students on the need to rise up to the current situations and face the challenges with the positive approach.
