The celebration of Diwali,'The festival of lights' came alive at Montfort School, on 17 th of October. The Principal lit the lamp to begin the assembly on the auspicious occasion. As a special day, all the students of Class II gave fabulous performances. Students talked about the significance of the festival - the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. Besides sensitizing students to the ill-effects of crackers, they also shared the guidelines on being safe while bursting them. The students showcased the spirit of Diwali through a mesmerising dance performance. The assembly concluded with Principal giving away the message of a clean, peaceful and a bright Diwali. The rangoli done by students added the perfect setting to the festivity.
Children’s Day was celebrated at Montfort School with pomp on 14th November 2017. The children were allowed to come in color dresses and a short programme was organised by teachers. The cultural programme included a prayer dance, melodious group song, an interesting and worth mentioning oldies dance and a spectacular group dance. The Principal blessed the children with his special message to enjoy childhood and be the best wherever and in whatever done. Thus the children’s day was celebrated with full enthusiasm making the day memorable for the children.
On Oct 16th 2017, Students of LKG – Std 9 displayed a one day Exhibition in School on all Subjects – English, Tamil, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Computer Science, Robotics & Astornomy. The Principal Bro K K Thomas formally inaugurated the Exhibition in the Morning Assembly.The students demonstrated their models and charts with a lot of involvement and enthusiasm. Exhibits were par excellent and prizes were rewarded for the best 3 exhibits of each Class. The event was a grand success.
A magnificent Christmas Programme was prepared and presented by the Students of Std 5 on 7 th Dec 2017 for the Students of LKG – Std 9. They displayed the Nativity of Christ assorted with Carols, Moral Play, Motivational Video, and Christmas Dance. The Programme was very vibrant and thought provoking. The Christmas message was given by the Principal Bro K K Thomas. The children had a joyful celebration and brought in Christmas this year with more meaning.
On 22 nd Dec the Staff had their Christmas Celebrations in School. The Programme started with a very meaningful Prayer Service, followed by Christmas Message by the Principal, followed by Christmas games. The Staff enjoyed the occasion; Cakes, Calendar and Dairy 2018 were distributed to all the Staff at the end of the celebrations. The programme ended with a Grand Christmas Lunch for all.
At the start of the new academic year 2017– 2018, First Friday Holy Mass was conducted for the catholic students. Rev. Fr. Amal Raj, Assistant Parish Priest of St.Patricks Church, St.Thomas Mount served the mass. Every month, Holy Mass is celebrated on the first Friday.
The academic year 2018 – 2019 started with an orientation programme for the Staff members on 1st June 2018. The orientation was done by our Provincial Superior Rev. Bro. P J George.
It was indeed a motivating and refreshing seminar, The purpose of the orientation was to make teachers understand how dedication plays a major role in moulding students entrusted in our care.
On 2nd June Rev. Fr. Jose SDB led a one day Seminar for the teachers where he brought out the need for us to be self – motivated as the days ahead for teachers are more challenging. The session comprised of fun filled games & activities which boosted the morale of the teachers and set the tempo to start the new academic year positively.
Teachers Day was celebrated at Montfort, St Thomas Mount by the leaders and Students of Std 11. They entertained the teachers with Skit, Songs, Dances, Poems and Short Videos. They highlighted the importance of a Teacher in each of their lives. They expressed their appreciation by giving mementos. It was a Half working day for the students. In the afternoon there was a prayer service followed by a grand lunch for the teachers. The Principal in his address to the teachers, thanked and appreciated them for their efforts and presented them with mementos.
The meeting began with a quote by “Robert Frost” –Education is everything to listen to almost anything with losing temper and self–confidence. Purpose of the meeting is to interact for the betterment of the child and institution.
The PTA meeting for High school was organized on 8th June 2016.The programme started with the Principal welcoming the parents and conveying to them, the curriculum followed and the teaching methodology. It was followed by open question session were parents expressed their views and concerns. The programme concluded with some important information being given to the parents , who later visited the classrooms with their kids and interacted with the teachers. All the parents were highly appreciative of the well organized PTA meeting programme.
“Education on wheels” displayed a “Great Book Fair” at Montfort.”Enriching young minds”.The Book Fair was inaugaurated by our Principal Rev.Bro. K.K.Thomas.
One day Picnics was organised for students from Std 1 – Std 8. 19thAug –Std VII & VIII visited Farm Guru near Red Hills. They learnt the nuances and importance so Organic Farming. It was indeed a memorable experience learning basics on farming and taking a ride of the bullock cart.
24th Aug – Std I & II students visited The Guindy Zoological Park. The tiny tots enjoyed their day out in the zoo.
28th Aug – The students of Std VI visited Bay of Life on ECR
30th Aug & 1st Sep – The Students of Std 3, 4 & 5 visited the Parle Biscuit Factory and got hands on experience on Biscuit Production and also visited the Rail Museum at Integral Coach Factory.
The 69th Republic day was celebrated at Montfort Mat Hr Sec School St Thomas Mount, with a lot of Patriotism. The Clubs associations of our school like the JRC,SCOUTS & GUIDES, NCC and the school Band together organized the Republic Day Celebrations through a short assembly with the hoisting of our National Flag and the pledge.The members of the Scouts & Guides and the JRC animated the assembly by Reciting a Patroitic Poem and displayed a Tableau bringing their devotion, loyalty & sense of Nationalism in Republic India. The Principal in his address motivated the students on the need to rise up to the current situations and face the challenges with the positive approach.
