Scouts and Guides Camp

A two days camp was organized for the first time at the school premises for the Scouts and Guides of Class 6 to 9 on the 26th and 27th of January. Nearly 45 students eagerly participated in this camp. The camp was inaugurated and lead by Mr. Kamalakannan, Scout Head. The session began with a prayer song followed by promise and hoisting of the scouts and Guides Flag in the presence of our Principal, Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier. Under the guidance of Mr. Kamalkannan along with the schools scout and Physical instructor Mr. Joseph Sangeeth assisted by PET Staff, Miss. Pandimeenal, the students learnt basic skills of campcraft such as different types of knots, tent pitching and other innovative activities. Students had an awareness session both theoretical and practical on First Aid. The campfire was lit and students sang songs and enjoyed with fun filled games around the campfire. Students were provided with sumptuous meals and healthy snacks on both the days. They were motivated, by the inspiring speech given by the scout head. The camp ended with distribution of participation certificates to all the students. The Scouts and Guides in-house camp left a memorable experience for all who participated in it.

Scouts and Guides

The Scouts and Guides is an educational mission focussed on improving the development of the students' physical, mental, social and intellectual wellbeing. It is an open, voluntary movement with a main focal point of imbibing in the children a good set of moral values which they are to contribute to the society at large in the future. A few of those values include learning life skills, enhancing their communication skills, team work and building a sense of fraternity within the student community. The Scouts and Guides have a mandate to follow the Scouts and Guides Promise and Law, which primarily consist of a set of rules based on human relations and kinship. The Scouts and Guides have a flag of their own, the Bharat Scouts and Guides Flag, which is comprised of the dark blue colour flag, with yellow colour emblem in the centre and Ashok Chakra in blue colour. It symbolises the Scouts and Guides unity towards the nation and stands as their pride. At Montfort, the Scouts and Guides is an energetic community with active events throughout the year. Our students have a weekly session filled with activities to encourage them and support their growth.

Every Saturday's, the Scouts and Guides gather in school for a dynamic conclave in the mornings for an hour at 7 am .We also take honour and pride to say that the Scouts and Guides at Montfort have also participated in the Independence Day event conducted on August 15th by the OTA, where our students showed active participation and contribution to our Nation's solidarity and freedom.
