Our Emblem Explained
Our Emblem Explained
The school emblem has the school motto “Wisdom Leads” inscribed on it
signifying that “Fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom”. This fear of God will lead the
entire Montfort School Family in the path of Righteousness.
Strategically below the motto is the symbol of a trophy engraved. This trophy
is the symbol of victory, the final reward one gets when they use the wisdom acquired
wisely.
Hovering right above the trophy is a dove that symbolizes the Holy Spirit, who
gives us the light of knowledge and the wisdom to understand that ‘Knowledge acquired with a
vision is Wisdom’.
In line below the trophy, written on a book are the two letters D and S to
denote “Dieu Seul” meaning “God Alone” keeping in mind the words of the Psalmist, “For He
alone is our rock and our salvation, our fortress, we shall never be shaken”.
The book, on which the letters D and S are inscribed, is the book of Knowledge
and Wisdom.
Below the book is a computer keyboard that denotes the role played by Information and
Technology on a global perspective.
On either side of the trophy are stalks of wheat that symbolize the fruit of hard work
– “A Sweet Harvest”. As the Psalmist says in Psalm 126 sings, “May those who sow in tears, reap with
shouts of joy. Those who go out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing shall come home with shouts of
joy, carrying their sheaves.”
The cross right at the bottom symbolizes hardship, sufferings and challenges that one
must confront in life before achieving success.
