Water and Waste — are sustainable and 'green'. This year, the GSP Carnival and Awards
Ceremony was held on February 4, 2025 at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, New
Delhi .
Going Green
At Montfort “Going Green and Living Supreme” is our new focus. In the limited
space, we employ eco-friendly practices. Saving water and improving the air around us is our
priority. As children enter Montfort campus, a lush green ambience welcomes them with an air
of freshness and calm.
Intensive research has proved that green is the most relaxing colour of all.
It is advised that children refresh their eyes by looking at green boards instead of black
boards. At Montfort, we provide greenery outside the classroom which is a soothing,
refreshing treat to the eyes.
Do we need a lot of space to have greenery? No. Careful planning shows that in
a little space we can have a lot of greenery. Once planted, this greenery need not be
disturbed at all even in the future.
Planting trees is not enough. Adequate irrigation, care and protection are a
must.At Montfort, we follow a unique water saving plan. We trap 99% of all rainwater and allow
it to stay in house.
This unique system employs:
Eco-friendly blocks allow seepage to the ground below and prevent water flowing towards the
drain outside. Thus irrigating and replenishing ground water.
A ledge is built all around our playgrounds, thus allowing a shallow tank to be formed
during the rainy season, containing all the rainwater that falls in the school premises.
sWater even from the surface of the pathways is allowed to flow into the playground and not
into an outside drain, where it would be contaminated.
At the end of the ground a covered well that provides water all the year through.
Roof Gardening:
The world today needs a great change in the environment in order to promote and
develop the habit of creating a green environment,we at Montfort motivate our students through
the project “Roof Gardening” where in the present situation they need not go in search of place
rather can develop their garden in the available space in their houses, prime motive being to
encourage our students towards the love for the plants and other living beings.
