24th Annual Sports Day 2025
Montfort Matriculation Higher Secondary School, St. Thomas Mount, proudly celebrated its
24th Annual Sports Day on 14th August 2025 with great pomp, spirit, and camaraderie. The
school grounds echoed with cheers and applause as students, staff, parents, and
distinguished guests came together to witness a day filled with energy, teamwork, and
sporting excellence.
Our Principal and Correspondent ,Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier delivered the
Presiding Address and felicitated the esteemed Chief Guest Dr. K. Latha Professor &
Director , MIT Campus, Anna University and the Guests of Honour, Dr. Brown Das ,
Chairman, Das Hospitals ,acknowledging their presence and contributions.
The ceremonial Flag Hoisting marked the official commencement of the Sports Day. The excitement further intensified with the March Past, where each house displayed coordination, discipline, and unity. The Oath Taking Ceremony and the Lighting of the Torch by the school’s sports champions inspired a sense of sportsmanship and determination among the participants.
The class event by LKG and UKG students delighted the audience ,followed by an elegant Yoga display, Zumba performance ,Stick Aerobics, Lezim Dance Drill, and the Grand Finale. The field came alive with the adrenaline-pumping 100 metres sprints, 4x100 metres Relays.
The Prize Distribution recognized the efforts of students in relays, class events, and the grand March Past.
The Winners of the Overall Championship of 2025 - 2026 was the Green Team ,the Antony House.
The day came to a patriotic close with the National Anthem, marking the end of a memorable and well-organized sports celebration that embodied the true spirit of Montfort – unity, perseverance, and excellence.

On 2nd August, Montfort School, St Thomas Mount hosted the second grand
event of the academic year 2024 - 2025, the 23rd Annual Sports Day. Mr. M Sundar, the
Vice Chancellor of Tamilnadu Physical Education and Sports University graced the
occasion as the Chief Guest, along with Guests of Honour Mr. Balan, Inspector of Police,
St. Thomas Mount and Mr. Antony Joel Prabu, Chennai District Sports Officer and the
Hockey coach of the Tamilnadu National Team.
The honourable guests were introduced to the gathering and felicitated by
the Principal and Vice Principal. The Chief Guest and the Principal inspected the
Contingents who were ready for the March Past, on an open jeep. The March Past parade
began with the School band leading the parade followed by the NCC cadets, and the four
school teams led by their Team Leaders, all the three guests along with the Principal
took the salute. The Chief Guest then formally declared the Sports Meet Open.
The day proceeded with the class relay of kindergarten, with colourful props and hoops, followed by
the 100 mts sprints both boys and girls in all the four categories. The class 4 & 5 displayed
vibrant a mass drill highlighting the significance of fitness. The class 1, 2 and 3 displayed their
class event with a lot of gusto and vigour. The students from various levels together performed,
Silambam, Karate and Pyramid display which enthralled the audience.
The Chief Guest Mr. Sundar in his speech greatly appreciated the Management, Principal
the staff and the students for hosting such a grand event and also advised the students to take part
in various sports, he also spoke on how Sports and Physical Education played a significant role in
school. The Guest of Honour Mr. Antony Joel Prabu also highly commended all the staff and students.
Annual Sports Overall Championship Trophy was won by the Montfort House.

11th UNIFIED SPORTS MEET
Friday, 14th October was a memorable day at Montfort St Thomas Mount, as
Montfort Mat Hr Sec. School in collaboration with Montfort Community Development Society
(MCDS) conducted the 11th Unified Sport Meet.
Unified sports is a Unique feature at Montfort where Children from Special
Schools across the city of Chennai are invited to participate in Sports Event partnering
them with the normal students of Montfort. The Unified Partners together take part in
Track & Field events and fun games and win medals.
Mr. Sudhan IAS, State Project Director, Department of School Education,
Government of Tamilnadu presided over as Chief Guest, took the salute, distributed
medals for the prize winners and graced the occasion.
Dignitaries, Heads of Institutions and Officials holding prominent positions in varied sectors and
who are involving in the development of under privileged and differently- abled of the society
presided over Sports meet and extended their support and solidarity.
270 special athletes along with 200 partner students participated in various Track and
field events. All the winners were awarded medals.
The Chief Guest Mr. Sudhan greatly appreciated the efforts of MCDS & Montfort School
for hosting the Unified Sports and making a difference in the lives of so many special children and
also for being a role model for 'Inclusion in Education' in the true sense.
