Programs For 2022-2023
Educational Tour
Educational tour was organised for the students of class 11 to Bangalore,
Mysore and Coorg.105 students of class 11 had a memorable and enjoyable 3 days tour. The
students comprehended the historic significance of the places visited and enjoyed the
places of amusement. It was a funfilled memorable trip capturing happy moments. The
students were accompanied by Principal Rev.Bro Stephen Xavier, Vice Principal Rev.Bro
Sebastian and staff.
The students of class 12 were taken to Hyderabad for an educational
tour.About 170 students along with staff and Vice Principal boarded the train for a 4
days trip to Hyderabad. The students enjoyed the happy and memorable moments, and
captured glimpses to make their journey a happy memory in their school life.
Christmas Celebration
On 15th Dec, the Students of Class 6 presented a grand Christmas
Programme. Rev. Fr. A D Michael, Director & Rector of the St Thomas National Shrine
graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The students displayed an effervescent and
meaningful Christmas programme blended with Carols, Dance, Drama, the human crib etc.
Rev. Fr. Michael greatly appreciated the Principal, Staff and Students for bringing out
the significance of the birth of Christ and how much it means to mankind. In his
Christmas message "God with us", he insisted on us remembering all the people who play a
role in our lives during this Season of love & sharing and to do our best to show
gratitude to them. The visit of Santa during the celebration added more vibrancy to the
event. The programme was indeed a class apart in bringing the mood and joy of the
season.
Birthday Celebration
"Count not the candles... see the light they give. Count not the years,
but the life you live"
On 20th & 21st October the Students and Staff of our school celebrated the
birthday of our Vice Principal Rev. Bro Sebastian Antony Samy in advance. During the
morning assembly on 20th October the students read birthday wishes and sang the birthday
song and Bro Sebastian cut the cake and shared his joy with the students.
On 2nd October the Staff organized a celebration which started with a
welcome and Special Prayer service for the birthday celebrant. The teachers then read
out birthday messages and expressed their appreciation and gratefulness to Bro
Sebastian.
A short video presentation on his journey down memory lane was also
presented which was very much liked by all. The Staff presented Bro Sebastian with gifts
to make the celebration extra special. The Principal also honoured Rev. Bro. Sebastian
with a shawl and shared his birthday wishes. The Montfort ITI Principal Rev. Bro Deepan
along with his staff also honoured Bro Sebastian with a shawl and a gift.
Finally Bro Sebastian along with the other staff who celebrated their birthdays this
month cut the cake and shared his joy. In his message he expressed his joy and sense of belonging at
Montfort St Thomas Mount. He also thanked Rev. Bro Stephen, Rev. Bro Deepan and all the staff for
making his birthday a memorable one.
May God bless Rev. Bro Sebastian with many more years of good health, wisdom and
strength to lead many more in the days to come.
Inauguration Of The Diamond Jubilee Arch
21st Oct 2022 was yet another memorable day at Montfort St Thomas Mount, as we
inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee Arch.
The celebration was graced by the Chief Guest, Our Provincial Superior Rev.
Bro. George Padikara, Guest of Honour Mr. Guna Vice President Cantonment Board of St Thomas
Mount cum Pallavaram.
The program started with the blessing of the arch by Rev. Fr. Shylock Stephen,
Parish Priest of St. Patrick's Church Parish, through very meaningful prayer and
intercession. The Montfort Melody Makers added more meaning through their singing while the
Arch and Compound walls were being blessed. The Chief Guest Rev. Bro. George Padikara cut
the ribbon to open the Diamond Jubilee Arch and & unveiled the Name stone, marking the 60
years of the Montfortian Presence through the selfless services rendered by the Montfort
brothers of St Gabriel at St. Thomas Mount.
The transcendent Diamond Jubilee Arch- the doorway into the Cathedral of Learning now
stands high and tall as a symbol which teaches us to stand the test of time, be open, span new horizons,
find windows of opportunity, reveal our strengths and to stay ahead of the curve.
11th Unified Sports Meet
Friday, 14th October was a memorable day at Montfort St Thomas Mount, as
Montfort Mat Hr Sec. School in collaboration with Montfort Community Development Society
(MCDS) conducted the 11th Unified Sport Meet.
Unified sports is a Unique feature at Montfort where Children from Special
Schools across the city of Chennai are invited to participate in Sports Event partnering
them with the normal students of Montfort. The Unified Partners together take part in
Track & Field events and fun games and win medals.
Mr. Sudhan IAS, State Project Director, Department of School Education,
Government of Tamilnadu presided over as Chief Guest, took the salute, distributed
medals for the prize winners and graced the occasion.
Dignitaries, Heads of Institutions and Officials holding prominent
positions in varied sectors and who are involving in the development of under privileged
and differently- abled of the society presided over Sports meet and extended their
support and solidarity.
270 special athletes along with 200 partner students participated in various Track and
field events. All the winners were awarded medals.
The Chief Guest Mr. Sudhan greatly appreciated the efforts of MCDS & Montfort School
for hosting the Unified Sports and making a difference in the lives of so many special children and
also for being a role model for 'Inclusion in Education' in the true sense.
One day Picnic to MGM Dizee World
The students of Class 1 to 5 went for their one day trip to MGM Dizee
World on Thurs 13th Oct. The day was filled with fun, enjoyment and they returned back
with fond memories.
Teacher's Day Celebrations - Monday, 5th Sept 2022
"A Teacher affects eternity, we can never tell where their influence
stops."
On Monday, 5th of Sept we celebrated Teacher's Day at Montfort St Thomas
Mount, in honour of all the Teaching and Non teaching Staff belonging to this campus.
The Students of Class 9 along with their class teachers had presented a cultural show in
order to express their love and appreciation to all their teachers. The programme was
conducted in two batches, for the KG & primary in the first slot and Class 6 and above
in the second slot. The Principal, Vice Principal and all the Teaching and Non teaching
Staff were brought in procession by the Guard of Honour to the auditorium and the
students welcomed them with a arousing standing ovation a Rose and a Favor.

The first program started with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest
Rev. Bro Varghese Kaleele, our Principal Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier, Vice Principal, Rev.
Bro Sebastain, KG & Primary coordinators
Mrs. Candida Chatelier and Miss. Sherly along with some of the Senior Teachers Miss.
Beryl Benny, Mrs. Cheryl Browne, Mrs. Josephine & Mr. Joseph Sangeeth. During the Second program the
Kuthuvikakku was lit by the Chief Guest Rev. Bro. Thomas V L, Rev. Bro Arokia Raj, our Principal
Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier, Vice Principal Rev. Bro Sebastian, Principal of Montfort ITI Rev. Bro
Deepan, Academic Coordinator Mrs. Monica D' Souza, our Senior teachers who had served more than 18
years at our school Mrs. Padma Suresh, Mrs. Merlin Sahana, Miss. Victoria, Mrs. Shanthi A, Mrs.
Jayaleena & Mr. Sekar Dev.
The cultural event comprised of the girls of Class 9 performing a solemn prayer cum
welcome dance followed by a melodious song sung by the Montfort Melody Makers highlighting the
qualities of a teacher and how they play a major role in moulding their lives. Then a group of
talented boys from the higher secondary gave a surprise dedication of a song written and composed by
them for all the Staff, this performance indeed moved every teacher. Finally the boys Class 9
enthralled the audience with their stylish moves through a fusion dance.

The most important event of the day this year was inviting every Staff member of the
Montfort Family to the stage starting from the Brothers who were first honoured by the students with
bouquets which they had hand crafted. Then the Staff members of Montfort ITI were honoured by the
Principal of Montfort ITI Rev Bro. Deepan and by the Principal of Montfort School Rev. Bro. Stephen
Xavier with a gift, during which their contributions towards the institution and their number of
years of service to the students was highlighted. The Students then called out every teacher and Non
teaching member of Montfort School to stage while they spoke about their goodness and their
commitment to this noble profession and the Principal Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier along with the Vice
Principal Rev. Bro Sebastian presented them with a gift as a sign of their appreciation and
acknowledgment. This gesture indeed moved every member of the staff and has rejuvenated them with
fresh energy in order to continue to contribute their best in the days to come.
The Principal Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier in his address to the gathering, highlighted the
importance of being grateful to all who have been instrumental in our growth and development. He
thanked the faculty both teaching and non teaching for their tireless efforts and contributions for
the school and all the students. The program ended with a very happy note.
The staff where then treated with a grand lunch by the Management which completed the
celebration.
Visit Of The Provinical Superior Along With The Former Principals - 26th
Aug 2022

On 26th Aug the Provincial Superior of the Province of Bengaluru Rev. Bro
George Padikara was on his official visit to our school. A special assembly was
presented to Welcome our Provincial Superior along with two of our former Principals
Rev. Bro George Vaz and Rev. Bro. Thomas K K.
The Brothers along with our Principal & Vice Principal were escorted to
the auditorium by the School Band after which they were welcomed with a standing ovation
by all the students and staff in the auditorium.
The programme began invoking the presence of God through a Prayer Dance,
followed by the lighting of the Traditional Kuthuvilaku by all the Reverend brothers.

The Provincial Superior Rev. Bro George Padikara, and our Former Principals Rev. Bro.
George Vaz & Rev. Bro K K Thomas were introduced to the gathering and thereafter felicitated by our
Principal Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier, Vice Principal Rev. Bro Sebastian, Principal of Montfort ITI Rev. Bro
Deepan, senior brothers of the community Rev. Bro Varghese Kaleele and Rev. Bro Thomas V L.
The Class 5 students presented a song on the theme "Together, we can change the world".
The students of Class 8 presented a short skit bringing out the need to be honest in everything little
deed, which will in turn take us to higher position in life. The Montfort Melody Makers sang "I have a
dream" with their enchanting voices.
The Principal & Correspondent Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier in his address to the gathering
expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Superior and to the Former Principals for their august
presence and for all their contributions for the growth and development of this school. He also said
that as Montfortians we must strive to keep up the standards which are set by our predecessors and take
it to the next level.
Rev. Bro George Vaz in his address highlighted the School Motto 'Wisdom always leads' and
told the children that knowledge is acquired, but Wisdom is inborn and that they must make all effort in
developing their wisdom.
Rev. Bro K K Thomas in his message told the children that it is time that they make good
all the unlearning which happened during the two years of lockdown and gear up to relearn and catch up
and be updated.
Our Provincial Superior thanked the Principal, Vice Principal, Students and the teachers
for the warm welcome and also appreciated them for the meaningful and colorful programs presented. In
his message he highlighted the importance of Gratitude. He said we must always be grateful to everyone
around us especially our parents, teachers and all who play a role in moulding us.
The program concluded with the school song and National Anthem. Later in the evening the
Staff had a group photograph with the Provincial Superior followed by a Staff Meeting.
Independence Day Celebrations
On the 18th of August 2022 the students of class VC and VD organized the 75th
Independence Day Celebrations under the guidance of their class teachers Mrs. Maria Priyanga
and Mrs. Rita Xavier.
The assembly commenced with the students welcoming our Chief Guest Rev.
Brother K.K Thomas - Our Former Principal and correspondent along with our Vice Principal
Rev. Bro. Sebastian Antonyswamy.
Rev. Bro K K Thomas hoisted the National Flag followed by the Thamizh Thai
Vazhthu. The assembly started with a prayer, followed by a prayer song and readings from the
three Holy Books.Speech on the "Importance of National Flag" was given by the children,
followed by them dressed as Mahatma Gandhi & Pandit Nehru and enumerated their role in the
freedom struggle.
Our chief guest Rev. Bro. K. K Thomas shared Independence Day message with us by
kindling their spirit of being an Indian and how they would play a major role as the citizens of
developed India in the near future.
The assembly ended with the vote of thanks, followed by school song and National
Anthem.

Say No To Drugs - Awareness Programme
Montfort School, St Thomas Mount in collaboration with the TN Department
of Police and Street Vision had presented a Drug Abuse Awareness program for the
Students of Class 9, 10 & 12 at the School on Friday, 24th June.
Prof. Abraham Lincoln along with his team from Street Vision led the
students into a self awareness and realization on how we must say NO to drugs. He
elicited facts from the students who very actively participated and showed their
eagerness in knowing to choose between right and wrong.
The Chief Guest of the event Dr. Pradeep, Deputy Commissioner of St Thomas
Mount Zone along with the Assist Commissioner Mr. Amir Ahmed graced the program with
their presence. Dr Pradeep also addressed the students and explained in detail how Drug
abuse has become a common social evil and how teenagers are influenced and thereby
misled. He also clearly explained how they could approach parents, elders, school
authorities for support when in need. He concluded by finally assuring that the
Department of Police is always there to support and safe guard them from perpetrators
and social evils. He also appreciated the Principal & the Staff for taking this initiative to
educate students so that they could safe guard themselves.
The program was very informative and kept the students pinned down as they attentively
listened to the speakers.
Pta Meeting With The Principal For Class 10, 11 12 Parents
"Discipline your children and they will give you peace of mind and will make
your heart gold." Pro 29:17
On Saturday, 27th Aug 2022 9.00 am, PTA meeting for the Parents of Class 10,
11 & 12 along with the Principal and Vice Principal was conducted.
The meeting solemnly began with the Lighting of the Kuthuvilakku by the
Principal Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier and Vice Principal Rev. Bro Sebastian along with parent
representatives Mrs. Vasanthi, Mrs. Isabel and Mr. Giri BKN, followed by a Prayer song
summoning God to give us the wisdom and enlightenment to indulge in meaningful and
productive discussion, keeping in mind the interest of the students and the school.
The Coordinators of Class 10, 11 & 12 briefed the parents about their plan and
objectives for their children in this academic year. They also highlighted the expectations
from the students in terms of their discipline and behaviour.
The Principal Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier addressed the parents. In his speech he put
forth his suggestions and advices to the parents. He also assured the parents that he would do
all what is within his limitations in maintaining the standards of the school and to provide a
positive learning environment for their children. He requested the parents to give their mutual
support and trust the Management and the staff in order to prepare their children not just to
face the board examinations rather train them holistically to face the challenges ahead of them.
Parents were given an audience to express their concerns and many of them came
forward with a lot of appreciations and also put forth their suggestions, a suggestion box was
also kept for those who wanted to write and submit their queries confidentially. Parents were
also given time to discuss with the class teachers and other subject teachers about their
child's progress.
The meeting was indeed a meaningful interaction to put across our purpose and
prospects and also created a platform to identify the flaws and make efforts to rectify it.
Special thanks to all the parents who attended the meeting prioritizing the interest of the
children and their future.
Welcome and Farewell
This academic year we started with a lot of mixed emotions as we had
change in our Management. On 10th & 13th of June both the Staff, Students & Parents
welcomed our new Principal & Correspondent Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier A and bid farewell
to the old Principal & Correspondent Rev. Bro. K K Thomas. On 10th June 6.00 pm the
programme started with the Lighting of the lamp symbolizing the handing over leadership
by the former Principal Bro K K Thomas and taking over of the responsibility by the
Current Principal Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier A along with Vice Principal Rev. Bro Sebastian
Antonysamy and the other brothers of the community. The programme started with a prayer,
followed by welcome address by Rev. Bro Sebastian. The teachers had prepared for a
cultural display along with heartfelt sharing of their farewell messages to Rev. Bro K K
Thomas. The entire evening was filled with outbursts of emotions and hard feelings as
Bro K K Thomas bid adieu and at the same time exciting as we were coming under the new
leadership of Rev.
Bro Stephen Xavier A. On 13th June the Students and parents gathered for a Special
Morning Assembly to Welcome and bid farewell to the brothers. The students sang a Farewell song,
shared Farewell messages across grades, recited poems etc. Mr. Annadurai IAS, Director TN
Agriculture Dept and a very good friend of Bro K K Thomas graced the occasion to welcome the new
Principal and to bid farewell to his friend.
The programme was a display of emotions and sentiments by everyone. A programme
ended with the brothers walking on the school track with students on either sides honouring them
with showers of flower petals as a token of their gratitude and love.
