Astro Trip to Vainu Bappu Observatory
The Montfort Astronomy Club (MAC) organized an educational astro trip to
the Vainu Bappu Observatory (VBO), located at Kavalur in the scenic Javadhu Hills.
Operated by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, VBO provides an excellent platform for
students to explore advanced instruments and sensors used in celestial observation.
A total of 46 students, accompanied by Rev. Bro. Packiyanathan, the Vice Principal, and
other faculty members, departed from the school at 7:30 a.m. on October 29th. Before
their journey began, Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier, the Principal, conveyed his best wishes
to the team. Following a sumptuous lunch at Ambur. The group reached the observatory by
2:00 p.m.
Upon arrival, the team received a warm welcome and was guided to a cylindrical dome
structure that houses several telescopes. Mr. Rahul, an engineer at VBO, conducted an
engaging and informative session on the observatory’s history and its remarkable
contributions to astronomical discoveries. Students then explored the solar telescope,
the 1-meter telescope, and the 2.3-meter telescope, gaining firsthand insight into their
functioning and purpose.
As evening fell, a night sky observation session was organized, giving students the
thrilling opportunity to observe the moon and Saturn through a telescope—a truly
unforgettable experience. The group departed from VBO at 6:30 p.m., enriched with
knowledge and wonderful memories.
Parents & students expressed their appreciation to the school management for providing
such a valuable and inspiring learning experience for the students.
Awarness Program
A Ride to Safety” — a Helmet Distribution and Awareness Rally —was
organized by Trax Society to highlight the importance of helmet use and promote a strong
safety culture among school children and parents. As part of the initiative, around 250
helmets were distributed to students and parents, reinforcing the message of responsible
and safe travel.
Diwali Celebration
Diwali was celebrated with enthusiasm on 17th October 2025. The event
began with a warm welcome and ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by a prayer, Bible
reading, and soulful prayer song. Students highlighted the cultural and historical
significance of Diwali through an oration, a vibrant dance, and a skit on Naragasura
vadam. A speech on Go Green Diwali promoted eco-friendly celebrations, and a Tamil song
added to the festive spirit. The Principal inspired students to embrace Diwali’s values
and strive for excellence. Let the light of Diwali illuminate our hearts with delight
and our minds with clarity.
MONTECH FEST 2025
MONTECH FEST 2025
On 11th November Montfort school proudly hosted MONTECH FEST 2025, its annual Science
Exhibition. The event, aimed at fostering curiosity, creativity, and innovation, was
inaugurated by
Mr. Praveen Kumar, Dean – Faculty of Management, SRM University, Ramapuram, and blessed
by Rev. Fr. A. D. Micheal, Rector of St. Thomas National Shrine and Basilica. Students
from Classes I to XII showcased an impressive range of projects in Science, Robotics,
Biotechnology, Astronomy, Physics, Astrophysics, Chemical Bonding, Library Science, Mass
Communication, Painting, and Culinary Arts. Primary classes presented engaging exhibits
in Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Languages, Current Affairs, and General
Knowledge. Each display highlighted analytical thinking, creativity, and the practical
application of knowledge. Thanks to the meticulous planning of the Department of
Science, and the guidance of the Principal, Vice Principal, teachers, and parents, the
fest ran seamlessly, leaving visitors inspired. MONTECH FEST 2025 offered a dynamic
platform for students to explore, express, and innovate, celebrating teamwork, talent,
and the joy of scientific discovery.
Children’s Day Celebration
Montfort School celebrated Children’s Day with joy and enthusiasm, making
it a memorable occasion for the students. To honour the day, the teachers organized a
cultural extravaganza, performing dances, skits, and musical acts to entertain and
inspire the children. Through their performances, the teachers not only brought smiles
to the students’ faces but also led by example, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, and
the joy of learning. The celebration was filled with laughter, applause, and happy
memories, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing a caring and inspiring
environment for every child.
Christmas Celebration
A special assembly was conducted by the students of Class 8. Rev. Fr.
Balasamy,Parish priest, St. Joseph Church, Porur , graced the occasion as the Chief
Guest. Amidst the jubilant festivities, the atmosphere brimmed with silence as our guest
Rev. Fr. Lazar, Principal & Correspondent Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier, Vice Principal Rev.
Bro. Pakiyanathan, Principal of Montfort ITI Rev. Bro. Deepan and our Academic
Coordinator Mrs. Monica D’ Souza lit the ceremonial lamp, as a symbol of hope and
enlightenment.
In the heart of the school auditorium, the stage transformed into a scene from ancient
times, echoing the story of Bethlehem . Students adorned in costumes ranging from
shepherds’ robes to majestic angelic wings. The play commenced, unfolding the cherished
tale of Mary and Joseph’s journey, the humble birth of baby Jesus, the visit of the
shepherds and the wise men guided by the bright star. Amidst the heart-warming tableau,
melodic hymns were softly sung in the background. The Nativity play stood as a beautiful
reminder of the true essence of Christmas.
With a serene demeanour, the guest Rev. Fr. Balasamy spoke eloquently about the
significance of the season, emphasizing the values of unity, compassion and joy of
giving.
Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier, in his message emphasized the spreading of warmth and
compassion to all around us. Brother appreciated all the students who took part in the
programme to make it a big success. The programme came to an end with expressing our
thanks to everyone for their presence
in making this Christmas celebration a resounding success.
quiz competition
The Green School Programme [GSP] of Montfort School conducted a quiz
competition ‘Eat Heathy ! Stay Heathy !’ aiming to educate the children on Heathy
eating
habits. The pogramme was conducted on August 29th at 1.30pm . Our Principal Rev. Bro.
Stephen Xavier , teachers and students attended the show with all their hearts. The quiz
was divided into 5 rounds: General round, Visual round, Buzzer round, Rapid Fire round
and memory recall round. The Quiz Masters of the program were Roohan Reddy and S. Tharun
of class 12. The four team leaders were doing the scoring for a fair play. Students of
class 8 formed four teams according to their house . They were very responsive, well
prepared , enthusiastic and followed the rules.
The Purple team emerged as winner of the competition. Rev.Bro. Stephen
Xavier announced the winner and motivated them with gifts. The GSP team was well
appreciated for conducting a well organized Quiz Programme and for their effort to
broaden students knowledge and learning.
Herbal Garden
Montfort School inaugurated its first-of-kind Herbal Garden at a designate
plots within the school campus, to create awareness among students about medicinal
plants and their uses. The Green School Programme [GSP] team had initiated this ‘ Herbal
garden in School’ concept to popularize the use of commonly available medicinal plants
and to teaches the students how to conserve them. A total number of 25 herbs have been
planted by the team creating a repository for students to learn about traditional
medicine and health benefits of plants.A display chart with information on the
therapeutic uses of the plants is also displayed.
Solid Waste Management Rally
On 29th of August , 2025 , our school organized a Solid Waste management
Rally to create an awareness about the need to segregate the waste in proper manner. The
rally was inaugurated by our Principal Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier who emphasized on
creating awareness among students and public in segregating the waste . Students
participated in the rally enthusiastically, carrying banners , Placards and raising
slogans like “ Say no to Plastic”, “waste less, Live more”, “Clean Today ,Green
Tomorrow” .
In conclusion, the solid waste management rally was a successful
initiative that helped spread an important message throughout our community. It
reinforced the idea that every individual has a role to play in keeping our society
clean.
Provincial Superior Visit
The first official visit of our Provincial Superior Rev. Bro. Jenny
Kuriakose was marked as a very memorable event of this year. We were much
privileged to
have our Brother amidst us. An assembly was organized , starting with a vibrant welcome
dance . Our Principal Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier and Vice Principal Rev. Bro. Packiyanathan
felicitated our guest and gave a welcome address. Class VII students enacted a skit and
a short movie was also presented along with western dance and light music. Our
Provincial Superior enjoyed all programs and appreciated the students and staff for the
warm welcome.
Teachers’ Day Celebration
Teacher’s Day celebration was animated by students of Std XII. Teachers
were taken on a procession with the band to auditorium and were welcomed by all
students. Program started with a graceful devotional dance , followed by a tamil speech
on Sarvepalli S. Radhakrishnan. The light music by choir students lifted everyone
spirits and brighten the day. Short movies on the importance of teachers was also
presented by out budding artists. Corporate walk by the boys added another level of
entertainment to the program. The program ended with vote of thanks rendered by our
school team captians.
Book Exhibition
Our school organized a two-day Book Fair on 28th and 29th August 2025, in
association with Elite Books Company. The fair was inaugurated in the school premises by
our Principal Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier and Vice Principal Rev. Bro. Pakiyanathan and
received an enthusiastic response from students, teachers, and parents.
A wide range of books, including children’s literature, reference books,
novels, and encyclopedias, were displayed. The fair provided a wonderful opportunity for
students to explore and purchase books of their interest. The event not only encouraged
students to buy books but also kindled in them the joy of reading. The fair truly
reminded us that “Books are our best friends.”
One Day trip to MGM Dizee World
One day trip to MGM Dizee World was organized for std VI-XII . A fun
filled day for all the students with laughter, joy and happiness. Students enjoyed the
rides, water games and swimming pool . Teachers and PE staff accompanied the students .
It was a day to cherish and remain etched in their memory forever.
Two Day trip to Yelagiri
Students of std IX were taken on a 2 day trip to Yelagiri. During their
stay, students enjoyed boating , visited Chocolate Factory and more sightseeing.
Children the cool climate and spent time with their friends and returned with sweet
memories.
ANTI - DRUG DAY
ANTI - DRUG DAY was commemorated at Montfort School today, 26th June 2025.
The Students of Class 8, the NCC Cadets, Scouts & Guides & members of RSP along with
their teachers participated in a rally on North Parade Road. Tmt. Deepika Hemkumar,
Judicial Magistrate, Additional Mahila Court, Alandhur and Tmt. Bhuvaneshwari E,
Judicial Magistrate, Fast Track Court, Alandhur were the special guests and they
inaugurated the Rally by waving the Green Flag. Deputy Commissioner Mr. V R Srinivasan
and Mr. Balan Vavachan, Inspector of Police, Alandhur along with his team of Police
officials from S1 Police Station lead the rally with our Principal Rev. Bro. Stephen
Xavier followed by students holding, banners and placards and saying slogans. They
finally took the Anti-Drug Oath in the presence of the guests and the rally concluded.
It was indeed an eyeopener to the students who participated and the
public. The Guests and the public greatly appreciated this initiative.
Eucharistic Celebration
The first Holy Eucharistic Celebration of the Academic Year was celebrated
on 6th June, 2025, the first Friday of the month. Rev. Fr. Lazer celebrated the mass and
prayed for all the intentions of the school students, staff and the parents. Catholic
students and staff of Std 11 animated the Holy Mass and Catholic students of Std 6 to 12
participated with utmost reverence during the service. Holy Masses were celebrated on
the First Fridays of August and September as well.
ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR
CAREER GUIDANCE & ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR followed by PTA for Class
10, 11 & 12 Students and Parents on 10th June 2025 at our school, by renowned speaker
and mentor Mr. Jayaprakash Gandhi.
Vice Principal Rev. Bro. Pakiyanathan's Birthday Celebrations
The Principal, Staff and Students hosted a Special assembly to celebrate
the birthday of our dear Vice Principal Rev. Bro. Pakiyanathan. A traditional welcome
was given and the programme began with a thundering standing ovation followed by
Lighting of the Lamp by the birthday celebrant along with the students who celebrated
their birthdays. The students invoked God's choicest blessings for our Vice Principal
through a meaningful prayer and prayer song.
Tharun of class 11 D delivered a felicitation message followed by Roshan
of class 7 presenting a poem in honour of Bro. Pakiaynathan. A beautiful dance was
presented after which the birthday cake was cut by Bro.Pakiyanathan.
Students of UKG to Std 12 expressed their gratefulness by presenting
Handmade Birthday Greeting Cards, Colourful Bouquets, Saplings, Portraits etc. The
Principal in his address expressed his appreciations to Bro. Pakiyanathan. The programme
concluded with a happy note and group photos with the birthday celebrant.
ONE DAY ORIENTATION PROGARAM
"Good Beginnings assures, steady growth and success!"
On 30th May, the teachers of Montfort School, St. Thomas Mount along with
the teachers of Montfort CBSE School Theresapuram had a one day Orientation Programme
animated by Dr. K. Alex, Associate Professor, Dept of Commerce & CoE, St. Joseph’s
College Trichy.
The Seminar solemnly began with the lighting of the lamp invoking the
presence of God.
Dr. Alex started with a quote “ Being a Teacher is being a Role Model” .He used many
illustrations and activities and actively involved all the participants throughout the
day. It was indeed an enriching experience for both newly appointed teachers as well as
the experienced teachers. The Seminar ended with a very positive note; "The Greatest
Miracle a Teacher can perform is to touch the Hearts of the Students".
